Sort

Sort is an interactive web base work investigating the relationship of Leigh and my physical belongings to our individuality, personal relationships, and the politics of consumerism.

Beginning in the winter of 2005 and ending August 22, 2005 I created a photographic taxonomy of all the objects in the apartment that I share with my partner, Leigh. I began this process by photographing durable goods – things that we have owned for some time and will likely own for some time to come. On completion of photographing our durable possessions, I photographed the more temporal consumables (i.e. food, personal hygiene items). Because the durable objects in the apartment had not changed, I was able to create an exact inventory of the contents of our apartment upon completion of photographing the consumables.
